assessment centres

What will candidates actually bring to your organisation?

How will they typically deploy their talents?

Why do they approach things in the ways that they do?

Only by thoroughly understanding candidates can you make accurate predictions about how well they will perform in post. We support our clients’ recruitment processes with highly robust and objective means of scrutinising the ‘what’, ‘how’, and ‘why’ aspects of each candidate’s style.

Our genuinely participant-centred assessment centres support candidates to perform at their best, and so find out what truly underpins their performance. Our expert Psychologists apply best practice assessment methods and tools to objectively assess each candidate’s strengths, skills, and potential limitations. Crucially, we also have the ability to examine candidates’ core values, as an increasing number of clients understand how the mix and power of personal values affect the ease of joint decision-making, sharing of expectations, maintenance of motivation, and overall fit.

We combine our ethos of candidate care and professional excellence with a strong understanding of our clients’ cultures, challenges and aspirations. Working in partnership with clients, we design and deliver activities which focus on the personal qualities which are crucial to delivering success within that context now, and also in the future.

Before...

  • Identification of competencies most closely linked to success, in close consultation with clients.
  • Best practice design and selection of interactive activities in close consultation with clients, to address ‘live’ issues in their organisations and reflect situations typically encountered.
  • Invitation and full briefing documentation to candidates, as well as any activities to prepare in advance
  • Briefing to client assessors on assessment methodology and centre logistics.
  • On-line administration of leading personality profiling questionnaire. Our BPS level A and B qualified Business Psychologists select from a range of professionally approved questionnaires which give high levels of detail and which are directly relevant to performance at work and identified competencies.

...During...

  • Professional and genuinely supportive participant-focused delivery to help candidates to ‘be at their best’ during the activities. This leaves candidates with a positive view of their experiences and of client organisations.
  • Skilled interpretation of personality profiles and in-depth feedback and interview sessions for candidates with our Psychologists. Sessions explore participants’ personal preferences and deepen our understanding of the likely impact of these traits on performance and ‘fit’ with others.
  • Assessed activities give range of opportunities for candidates to demonstrate their strengths, skills and experience. These can include competency-based interviews, simulated meetings, strategic analysis exercises, presentations, briefings or ability tests. Clients are encouraged to join our experienced assessor team.
  • Facilitated selection session, to help clients make well-informed appointment decisions supported by objective opinion and professional advice.

...and After

  • Executive summary of the successful appointee’s strengths, potential limitations and advice on how to get the best from them
  • Developmental feedback to the successful appointee once in post
  • Availability of feedback to unsuccessful candidates
